An effective local campaign earns Northampton PR team national recognition!

A PR campaign run by the Northampton based consultancy Red Alert Media has been highlighted in the national trade magazine 'PR Week'

Red Alert Media's work on last year's 'Walk In The Park' festival in Wootton is featured in this week's magazine, which selects two to three successful campaigns each week from all around the country. The 'Walk In The Park' example was selected as an example of a local, low-budget campaign that proved to be both effective and successful.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to bits about this," said Red Alert Media's Peter Jones. "To be singled out like this, from all the PR campaigns that go on all over the country throughout the year - from high profile national ones, to local ones such as the 'Walk In The Park' one that I was involved in - is a real coup.

"It was a fantastic event, and the work I did simply supported all the hard graft that was put in by the organising committee, and the success of 'Walk In The Park' last year, and the thousands of people who flocked to it, was down to them, and their dedication.

"Hopefully, raising the profile of it not just helped attract record crowds, but put it on the map as one of the big social events of the year, here in Northampton."

Not surprisingly, Red Alert Media will be working with the organising committee again this year, where the high profile publicity has already started, with the announcement of 1980s rock icon Midge Ure as the headline act.

Said Jonathan Nunn, of the Walk In The Park organising team: "Peter did a fantastic job, and really put us on the map. We hadn't managed to get much publicity until he came on board. He organised a great media campaign, and his success was proved by the numbers: we had over 5-thousand on our big Family Night Out, which was up by over 2-thousand on the year before."

And the latest coup for the Red Alert Media team is not the first time they have been acknowledged by the PR trade magazine. Said Peter: "I did some work for a drugs charity a few years ago, and on the day of their annual conference the issue we were highlighting led the national news agenda for a whole day. That earned us  recognition, which was great.

"Last year we were also featured for the PR work we did for an archery event at the Houses of Parliament - the first time a sporting event had been hosted on the Speaker's Lawn, and it attracted national and international attention.

"But to be honest, it's the local campaigns we do that make us particularly proud," he said. "It proves that whatever your budget, whether your aspirations are local or otherwise, good PR can be both effective, and - very importantly, nowadays - good value for money, too."
