Red Alert Media gets an international call-up
Northampton based PR consultant Peter Jones has been asked by a sports world governing body to head up a taskforce looking into ways of improving its media profile.
Archery's world governing body FITA has asked Derngate based Peter to chair a communications committee, after being impressed with his work for the sports' national governing body in this country, Archery GB.
"Obviously I'm very flattered at being singled out by FITA, and invited to take part in what is clearly a big project, and I hope I can make a useful contribution," said Peter, who is senior partner in the PR company Red Alert Media.
"Through my connections with Archery GB I'm a passionate advocate for the sport, and I relish the chance to help raise the profile at an international as well as national level.
"I would like to think that they have asked me to take on this project because of the job I have done for Archery GB, but in return, I have a lot of experience in the media at a national and international level, so hopefully I can use that to FITA's benefit."
Tom Dielen, the chief executive of the Lausanne based organisation, said Peter has earned enormous respect amongst the archery community through his work for the sport in the UK.
"He has great experience, great contacts, and has done a marvellous job raising the profile of our sport, and it has not gone unnoticed," said Mr Dielen. "We are a fast growing sport worldwide, and want to use this growth with a higher profile, and we are looking forward to Peter's contributions on how best we go about achieving this."
David Sherratt, the chief executive of Archery GB, said the invitation to work with FITA was a recognition for what he has achieved for the sport in this country.
"Peter has done a fantastic job since we hired him six years ago, and I am not surprised that he has been singled out for what is an important project for FITA, and I'm sure he will take on the brief with the professionalism and enthusiasm for which he has become widely reknown for." |
